Strength and conditioning coach, nature and music lover, folk music player, history buff, outdoorsman, family man, axe enthusiast and radio host.

Calum started working for AW Radio in 2020 and since then has worked up to being director of the station, this involves scouting out and picking presenters for the station, deciding on the overall theme of the station, and picking all of the music for the general rotation (the music that plays during non-stop hits). As a lifelong music devotee radio is a natural fit for Calum, he sees it as a platform and opportunity to pay homage to his favourite artists as well as fill a gap in the media market where both hard rock and folk artists don’t currently get the representation that they deserve relative to their demand and audience size.

He also enjoys pondering the endlessly fascinating topics that the universe has to offer and explores this on his podcast style show Pandora’s Box. He’s a bit bonkers so expect things a little bit different with his shows, he likes to get creative and has invented different personas for his shows, this comes naturally to him and probably comes from a blend of his love of fantasy and growing up watching comedy legends such as like Rik Mayall, Jim Carrey, Mike Myers, Paul Whitehouse and Harry Enfield.

Away from the studio Calum is a strength and conditioning coach and avid lifter from Somerset, England. When he’s not helping people get strong, fit and healthy he’s often in the gym himself squatting 180kg for reps, deadlifting up to 260kg, performing countless pull-ups, push-ups and dips or running up and down the garden with a heavy sandbag over his shoulder. Calum takes a lot of satisfaction from helping people and knowing that he has had a positive impact on other’s lives by getting them healthy and strong is very fulfilling to him.

When Calum isn’t in the gym he can usually be found hiking, gardening, reading up on history, science or horror literature, spending time with his beautiful daughter or singing and playing folk music on his guitar either by himself or with friends. He’s also written, performed and recorded jingles for Aspen Waite in the past.

Calum says that music was his first love (along with dinosaurs) and has always been the one true constant in his life, he uses it to enhance everything around him whether it’s hyping himself up during workouts, clearing his mind for relaxation, enjoying himself with friends at gigs and parties or just singing at the top of his lungs in the shower! One of the reasons Calum loves folk music so much is for the old stories that they often tell and this ties in nicely to his love of history which, like music, he’s been into since he was a small lad. He is especially interested in prehistory, the ancient Greeks, Romans and Saxon and Viking history but loves it all and is always trying to expand his knowledge and fill in the blanks.
